The day before Halloween, Kim (my SIL) and I got our kids together to make some Halloween treats.  We made a bunch of different treats from this post, from Ourbestbites.com.  They were fun and easy to make and the kids loved them.

Then when we were all done we met up with our hubbies and went to a pumpkin patch.  It was drizzling the entire time we were there but the kids didn’t even notice they were having so much fun.

Kimber was a really good sport in putting her head through these things.  It was so adorable.

This boy just melts my heart!

They had a little corn maze there as well that we went through.  Kimber loved it.  She loved just following the path and didn’t even look back to see if we were following her.

At the end, they had a playground.  Kimber LOVES swings.  But look at her poor hands.  It was freezing!

Kimber’s favorite thing was all the animals.  Every single one she saw she would exclaim, “Baby, Baby”.  Apparently all animals are babies.

After the pumpkin patch, Sean invited us to go to a friend of his, who has a little train that runs through his yard and was giving rides for free for Halloween.  We were game so we followed them up there.  Wow!  It was really cool.  A huge production with tons of people.

First, we went through a little tiny haunted house.  I thought it was great.  I actually got scared out of my pants in there cuz I was so busy taking pictures.

We waited in line underneath their HUGE carport for about 20 minutes, but it was entertaining because there was a movie screen and they were showing all these funny/scary faces trying to scare us.  Here’s Jared doing his impression.

Heehee, he looks like he’s going to bite off Kimber’s head.

Then we got to sit down in rows in their garage and watch Nightmare before Christmas while we waited for our turn.  Finally, it was our turn and we got treated to a special light show set to music before our trip around the yard in their train.

We all got in the train and then it went around into all sorts of tents filled with different themed scariness.  Here is just a sampling.  The people were probably so annoyed with me because I kept shooting with my flash.

I just can’t imagine what kind of effort was put into this, but it certainly made my kids night.  It was really fun.  At the end, they had a sign that said they had been asked if people could donate money to help out.  They replied that they didn’t need money but if people wanted to donate money then all proceeds would got to a charity.  I can’t remember which one now, but it was a good one.  I thought that was really cool.  I hope one day I’m in the position to give so freely.

Awesome fun! Was the train at Stringtown USA in Lindon? We went there with preschool last year to learn about trains and Connor loved it. They supposedly do a Polar Express at Christmas complete with a chance to meet Santa and eat cookies. Sounds like you guys had a blast!
