For my birthday I asked Jared to take me to see my cousin Aaron Burrell perform at Wiseguy’s in SLC because he was headlining and I’d never seen him perform.  So we made a night of it and went to a yummy Lebanese restaurant, Mazza.  I had the Shawarma sandwich and Jared had the Lamb and Spinach.  Both were delicious but a bit on the salty side.  We had about an hour to kill until the show so we decided to see the lights at Temple square.

I love the little Manger scene they have every year.

It took us about 35 minutes to get a parking spot so we were only about to get a couple of shots.  Plus it was FREEZING so I’m surprised they didn’t all come out blurry.

Aaron’s wife was also performing.  She sang some songs that she had written.  The whole night was entertaining and I laughed harder and longer than I have in a long time.  Good clean fun.  Thanks Aaron for inviting us.

aaroncarahOn my birthday, my awesome SIL Kim took me out to lunch and then I hung out most of the day trying to finish Jason’s Christmas stocking (more on that later).  Then when Jared got home I got to open my presents.  I got a mini muffin pan amongst other stuff, but I was excited to use it so the kids and I immediately put it to good use.IMG_4908smWe made these.  I know, they kinda look like poop, but believe me they were good.  I just didn’t have anything other than chocolate for the frosting.  This was a new twist on my old recipe for frosting which I’ll have to post because it was still delicious but also pipe-able.  Sweeet!IMG_4925smKimber didn’t care what they looked like, she just wanted more!IMG_4942sm

On the Sunday after my birthday we invited my parents over for a Thanksgiving dinner.  I always like to do my own for my birthday so that I can have leftovers.  Then my siblings came over for cake and ice cream.  I got a new lense for my camera.  I’m so stinkin’ excited about it.

This was the very first picture I took with my new lens.  See how her eye is in focus and everything gets softer from there.  That’s what my new lens does and I love it.  Plus, it will allow me to shoot in lower light without a flash.  My birthday was a good one this year.  Thanks everyone!

I got a 50mm f1.8. I haven’t really experimented yet with it, but I like it so far.
